CRICKET OPENING
TOMORROW'S ENGAGEMENTS. TEAMS FOR RECLAMATION. . The Whangarei Cricket Association Will open its competition tomorrow. Two games will be played at the Reclamation, and as the four clubs participating are all regarded as being very strong in talent, a great deal of interest is being focussed on headquarters. Onerahi and Whangarei had some close tussles last season, and can be relied upon to provide an .interesting match. Nomads, last season’s champions, will be opposed by Combined Services, the new club, which has accumulated a very powerful set of players.
Combined Services will bo chosen from the following.—Teosdale, Chitty, Rowe, Morgan (2), Blakeway, Langdon, Grieve, Batten, Thomas, Saul, Matthews, Wilson, Worthington and Robb.
The Nomads team will be:—Morton (capt.), Hedditch, Brainsby, Connell, Savident, Menzies, Gotten!!, Dunn, Caldwell, Wakelin and Hewin. At Hikurangi, Portland will meet ih© local side, and Maungakararaea will start their home match with High School in the morning.
