PLAYING FIELD MISHAPS
CASES OE CONCUSSION.' (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, Monday. To recover from concussion suffered at football on Saturday afternoon, atton’d a dance that evening and go about his ordinary Sunday activities, Only to collapse after attending churcli service last night, was the experience of Air. Melville Irwin, aged 20, of SO, Wairiki Road, Mount Eden, during the week-end. He was admitted to the Auckland Hospital and recovered Consciousness this morning. His con dition is improving. Air. Irwin received a knock on the head at football, but did not show any feigns of serious injury. He did not feel well yesterday apd could not remember anything about the dance he had attended. After attending church last evening he Adsited the house of a friend. There he became so ill that a taxi Avas summoned to take him home but before it arm T ed he had lost consciousness. Ho was taken by ambulance to the hospital. Air. Irwin is the son of- Mr. dames Irwin, of Koinata near Pacroa.
■ Three other players suffered concussion during games in Auckland on Saturday afternoon. They were taken to the Auckland Hospital by the St. John Ambulance, and are in a satis factory condition. They are: —Miss Dulcie Mullins, aged 14, of Queen Street, Otahtihu, who . was knocked down while playing basketball at the Drill Hall, Rutland Street; Cyril Celland, aged 21, of Mount Wellington Highway, Ellcrslie-, a member of the Panmure third grade Rugby team; and Hika T. Wilson, aged 21, of Pukaki Road, Mangerc, a member of the Mangere League team.
