ALARMING EARTHQUAKES

CENTRAL AMERICA VISITED.' (Received 9 a.m.) ~ w NEW YORK, August .16A message from Denver, Colorado, s'ays that recurring earthquakes shook the west of Texas and the eastern-part of New Mexico today, and did considerable damage to property.

The main shock lasted 38 minutes. Its centre was at Fort Stockton, Texas, Avhere houses rocked, sleepers were thrown from their beds, and the walls of several office buildings were cracked. In El Paso, Texas, when tremors cracked the walls and broke windows and dishes, people fled 7 from ‘their homes.
