TEXAN CURTAILMENT. ' MARTIAL LAW INVOKED, (Received 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, August 15. Martial law reigns on th&, Texas oil fields. The State 'Governor, Mr Sterling, has followed the advice of the Governor of Oklahoma, Mr W. H. Murray (“Alfalfa Bill”), who found that the only way to cheek production was to call out the militia and close thousands of wells. This resulted in an increase in price, which so far is only slight. Alfalfa Bill’s chance of obtaining the Democrat nomination for the Presidential election received a great stimulus.
