SEVENTY LANGUAGES
EDUCATION IN RUSSIA. COMPULSION EDICT. (Received 9 a.m.) MOSCOW, August 15. On the occasion of the first anniversary of the establishment of universal and compulsory education, it is announced that 17,500,000 children, being 82 per cent of the children of school age, are already in the schools, compared with 7,000,000 under the Tsarist regime. Their studies are conducted in 70 languages.
