GERMAN BANKING
OPERATIONS RESUMED. l government to take control. (Received 9 a.m.) BERLIN, August 5. Although the restrictions will not be removed until tomorrow, many banka resumed operations today. The amounts paid in exceeded the withdrawals. The Chancellor, Dr. Bruening, in a broadcast speech this evening, indicated that the banks would be brought under the control of the Government, and he said the emergency measures had nothing to do with inflation. Depositors need not be afraid that they would lose their hard-earned savings.
