YOUTH ATTACKED
FOUND IN WASH-HOUSE. MOTIVE NOT APPARENT. (Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day. While walking along Puriri Avenue, Great South Road, on Friday evening, a, youth, Alan Ambrose Death, aged 18, of Green Lane, was aftaeked by two men who bound and gagged him. The youth was found in a wash-house behind a house in Puriri Avenue by a grocer’s assistant, who was delivering goods to the house. He heard a noise and found the youth sitting on the floor' with his hands and legs tied together. The youth was gagged with a scarf and his hands were fastened behind his back to his legs. On being released, the youth stated that he went to visit friends shortly after 7 o’clock, when he was attacked by a man. He struggled with his assailant, but another man attacked him from behind. They then took him to the wash-house, binding him, and .then gagged him with his own scarf. Peculiar circumstances are attached ■to the ease, and the motive is difficult to understand. The youth states that no attempt was made to rob him, and it is believed that no house in the vicinity was broken into.
