A tornado of a force unparalleled in the history of South Australia swept across North Adelaide and Hackney today. The wind unroofed the Blind Asylum, unrooted big trees, partly wrecked five cottages and telegraph linos, and carried out-buildings before it. However, nobody was hurt. Eye-witnesses state that the tornado was preceded by a violent roar and swirling dust. Sheets of corrugated iron blew overhead and were deposited hundreds of yards away. The damage is estimated at thousands of pounds.
