A PROHIBITED IMMIGRANT,
(Special to “Northern Advocate.”) '• AUCKLAND, This Day.
Charged with being a prohibited immigrant and remaining in New Zealand beyond the period for which a temporary permit had been granted, Hop Gee (45), a Chinese gardener, pleaded guilty at the Police Court this morning. The Collector of Customs, Mr J. McIntosh, who prosecuted, said accused came to New Zealand in September, 192-7, on a temporary permit. Later this Avas extended for tAvo months. Then he cleared out, and only a feAV days ago Avas discovered working for another Chinese at Wairoa. He had boon in the Dominion tAvo years and 11 months over his time. “The usual tariff,” remarked Mr P. K. Hunt, iS.M. “Pined £25 and 'ordered to be deported.”
