THE STRANDED ENTON
CREW REACH SYDNEY
FIRE REPORT DENIED
(Received. 9.30 a.m.) SYDNEY, This Day
Thirty members of the crew of the British steamer Enton, which was .stranded near Noumea, reached Sydney today ('it route for England, where an inquiry will be held. The captain is remaining aboard until a surveyor arrives.
The crew are unanimous that no fire occurred prior to the stranding. It was explained that Patrick Sullivan, a member of the crew, was helping to launch a 'boat when a hawser inflicted a, severe wound in a log. Emm this he bled to death.
A stowaway was found aboard ihe Enton after she left Lyttelton. He moved to be Arthur Rowe, of New South Wales, who tried unsuccessfully to obtain work in New Zealand. He decided to return to his native soil, but ho had the bad luck to select a ship which is now abandoned m.Mos from home.
