LIMA (Peru), February 11
The Prince of Wales and Prince George arrived this morning from Callao and were welcomed by the Mayor, who presented them with the freedom of the city, commemorative medals and parchments. The Prince of Wales responded in Spanish. The ovation here was a reptition of that at Callao. The Army band played “God Save the King,” and thousands cheered as the Royal brothers marched nj> the steps of the City Hall between ranks .of picked troops.
The Prince of Wales said: ‘‘ I- am not accustomed to ma kino' speeches in Spanish, but I want to tell you that my brother and I are grateful for the welcome. Wc are honoured by the medals you have given us. When emotion is strong, you know, speeches must be short.”
