LOWER PAID MEN
POSITIONS MAY BE IMPROVED
(From Our Parliamentary Special.) WELLINGTON, This Day.
The assurance that he is just as anxious as anyone else to see every member of the Civil Service receive the w’agea that are due to him, was given in the House of Representatives yesterday by the Postmaster-General, the’ Hon, J. B, Donald.
The Minister said he realised that some of the men in the Post and Telegraph Department, who were over tho age of 21 years, were not receiving £4 per week. Mr R, McKecn (Wellington South): “Some of them are not receiving £3.■ ,,
Mr Donald said that steps were taken last year to put the wages of the men in the lower grades on a more satisfactory footing, and he was sure it could be only a short time before a lot of them would have their position improved.
