GANTONWINE CONQUERS,

THYE SLAMMED OUT,

(Special to “Northern Advocate.”) AUCKLAND, This Day.

The wrestling' match between Teel Thye, cx-liglit-heavy weight champion of tire world, and Howard Cantonwine, staged at the Town Hall last evening, ended suddenly in the fifth round, when Cantonwine slammed his opponent for the first fall. Thye was unable to continue.

The bout, which was staged by the Auckland Ex-Servicemen’s Wrestling Union, attracted a fair attendance, and bursts of applause were frequent as cither wrestler executed a clever movement or escaped from a difficult position.

During the first four rounds Tlqve was the aggressor, and Cantonwine bad several narrow escapes from falls. At dimes the wrestling was rather rough, Thye butting with his head, while Cantonwine retaliated with open-handed smacks to the face. The eiowd was brought to its feet
