KM APT “ET PETE BAS,
Not fur ninny veins haw (In*ss accessories played such mi important part in our daily apparel (states “Thu Adelaide Leader”). The severity of recent fashions, with their trim lines and boyish primness, was inconsonant with the fluttering 'kerchiefs, the Beguiling collars and frills, the quaint gemmed clasps, and jewelled pins which the 1930 season will revive in all their latest fantasies. The lure of the emerald is waning, and its place is to be usurped by the ruby. Emeralds reappear, however, in the flat brooch clip, which is designed to catch the edges of a collar or a. jabot frill. These now clips have a bewildering habit of turning up in unexpected places, and appear equally at homo on the brim of a little hat, attached to the decolletage of an evening gown, or clasped to the edge of a neat silk wristband. The black satin cap with its glittering ornament is a new favourite. The smartest gloves are always the plainest, and Avhothcr they bo long or short they must nick well over the wrist! The-most up-to-date necklaces are like brilliant diamond ropes or tons ted strands of black and -white. London is also showing girdles to match these black ard while chains. One French designer is even covering wooden beads with silk to match his clients’ gowns. The bewitching little buttonholes of white, or tinted pique described in English fashion books have already arrived in Melbourne, and have a deliciously crinkled surface.
Posies displayed look delightful with a spring suit, but otherwise Dame Fashion prefers real to -artificial flowers for her 1930 gown. Melbourne women have been quick to appreciate this change, and little sprigs or daphne, bunches of fragrant violets, and clusters of vivid berries are an-
pearing in ever-increasing numbers. If, however, you dread the stain made by real flowers, adopt the pique posy and wear a demurely scalloped pique collar and cuffs. Your tailored suit will then be .perfect for the spring.
