OBITUARY

AIRS J. I“0WICK

The death occurred at Manga)mi on September —5) of .Mrs Emma, Jane Powiek, at the age of 7S years.' Born In England in l.Sod, Mrs Powiek lamo to Now Zealand in J.SBI liv ilio .Shaw Savlll vessel Bloom, and in the following year married .Mr Jesse Bewick. Mr and Mrs Powiek went farming-, first in Alarlhorongli, then Wokaweka, ami later in Hokianga, where they stayed until 192(5, -before moving to the Whangaroi district.

Mrs Powiek’ is survived by her husband and. three sons and three daughters, The sons are Messrs D., E. and M. Powiek, all of Wekawekn; and the daughters Airs W. .1. Lowe (Kamo), Mrs D. Walker (Alangapai) and Mi’s J. Barlett (Dnrgaville). The deceased lady was highly respected by her many friends in the various districts in which she lived and was always ready to give her aid to anybody needing it. She will be greatly missed by a big circle of friends and acquaintances.

The funeral was held at. the Mamin Cemetery ou Tuesday.

The death occurred today of Mr Albert Henry Fnlhvood, the wellknown artist. He was born in Birmingham, England, in 1863 and came to Australia, in 1881, returning to the Homeland. 18 years later. Mr Fnllwood, who was a painter in both oil and water-colour, illustrated “Picturesque Australia” and other works. He was an exhibitor at the Royal Academy in London, the Paris .Salon and elsewhere. His chief productions, mostly war .subjects, a,re in the galleries at Sydney, -Melbourne, Adelaide, Dresden and Budapest.
