ing for observations. The Americans arc under the control of Commander Keppler, who extend cm! every facility to New Zealand's representatives. The New Zealanders started work almost immediately after landing. On Tuesday Dr. Adams chose the site for erection of the New Zealand instruments, and it was hoped that a start would be made on Wednesday with the concrete work for the foundations.

The Tongan Government’s new wireless station at Ninafoou was opened on Monday. The opening ceremony was carried out in true native style. The dress of the natives was extremely picturesque, embracing all the colours of the rainbow. The singing -was most harmonious and rhythmic. The dancing was a beautiful

sight. All the New Zealand party are well. This is the first press message sent by the Tongan Government radio at Niuafoou Island.
