BRIDGE OPENING

FUNCTION FOB ONE TREE POINT MINISTER MAKING SPECIAL VISIT. A double-barrelled function of great importance to that part of the Whaugarei '.district lying between Enakaka and the sea at Marsden Point is being arranged to take place at One Tree Point on June 30 next. The Hon. A. J. Murdoch hopes to.make a special trip from Wellington to be present, and assist in the opening of the bridge, joining the newly-formed One Tree Point road to Buakaka. This road opens up several thousands of acres of newly-drained swamp land for settlement. At the same gathering opportunity will be taken to decide upon a suitable name for the new block, which is known variedly as One Tree Point, Marsden Point and Takahiwai. To avoid confusion it is proposed that the block be called Belle Yue, after the well-known estate of that name. In the evening a social function will • be held in the farmhouse at the old Belle Vue estate.
