FULHAM BY-ELECTION
AVON BY CONSERVATIVES.
SIR C. COBB REGAINS SEAT. (Received 1.44 p.m.) LONDON, May 6. The Fulham West by-election, caused by the resignation of Dr. G. E. Sp’ero (Labour) resulted as follows: Sir Cyril Cobb (Con.) 16,223 Mr J. A. Banfield (Lab.) 15,983 Majority for Cobb 240 The election was fought on the Empire free trade issue. Sir Cyril Cobb made a determined effort to regain the seat, which he held through four general elections until ho was beaten by the Labourite in a threecornered contest last year.
The following was the result at the last general election on May 30, 1030:
Dr. .Spero (Lab.) IG,IOO Sir Cyril Cobb (Con.) 13,070 Mr R. A. Rale (Lib.) 0,0'20 In 1021 the Conservative majority was 2211.
