PROPOSED REMOVAL. l * As the present erection was in a ■very delapidated, condition the Whaugarei Municipal 'Sijlver Baud asked the Whangarei Borough Council on Monday evening that something bo done to the'rotunda. In Central Park, The letter concluded:—” The splendid work achieved by the council in Cutler’s Park would further be improved with a new rotunda and would lie an inducement for the baud to render programmes of music for the benefit of the general public.” The Parks Committee, in its report, recommended that the rotunda in Central Park be removed. Cr Holmes reminded the council that !the rotunda was the property of the Municipal Band, and before removing it the consent of the band would need to be obtained. Cr Pickmt're: ‘‘Surely it is not intended to remove the bandstand altoigefher? Centra! Park is the ideal place to hold band concerts.” It was decided to obtain a rcporl from the representative of the Council on the Band’s Committee.
