POLISH BEAUTY’S DEATH
DISAPPOINTED WITH SELECTION (Received 10.8 a.m.) WARSAW, January 31. A 22-years-old Polish beauty, Irene: WierZbicka, shot‘herself when she was not elected as ‘‘.Miss Poland” to represent her country at the Wprld Beauty Contest at Rio De Janeiro. This incident is an indication of the storm which occurred throughout Poland, whore the contest was organised with tremendous publicity, and the candidates paraded for hours in front of a vast, audience before a decision
was given. When the jury announced the winner was the Actress Sophia Batraka, there was a cry of anguish in the crowded hall and Wierzbicka dashed out weeping. She was found shot dead in a dressing room.
