OPERATION ON HALF-CASTE. (Per Press Association.-—Copyright.) TE KtJITT, Thursday. The half-caste native youth, Timi Ahurangi, who .was the victim of the alleged shooting affair near Piopio, on Monday last, and who lias since been in the To Kuiti Hospital, was taken to the Hamilton Hospital today for an X-ray examination. Ahurangi, who was reported to have been shot just below the groin with a .32 calibre rifle, was operated on at the local hospital, but the bullet was not located. The bullet entered the log just below the thigh bone, shattering the latter and just missing the femoral atery. The uncle of the. injured man, Kone (‘‘Kruger”) Pairama, who was- charged with attempted murder of his nephew, has been remanded in custody to appear at Te Kuiti on Monday next.
