RETURN OF HOSPITALITY
AFTERMATH OF COMMERCE TRAIN. ' WHANGAREI CONFERENCE SOUGHT, The closer understanding which has come about as the result of visits from .the . Auckland. Chamber, of. Commerce trains was reflected at the annual meeting of the Whangarei Chamber last night. The deliberations are likely to. have concrete fulfilment in the near future.
Mr A. R, Crane, who represented the Whangarei Chamber on the tour, said that when speaking at Kaitaia he remarked that, for two successive years the, Aucklanders had been entertained. The vice-president of . the Auckland Chamber, Mr Stewart, had commented that it was time the city people reciprocated, and so that this might be possible Mr Crane moved the following resolution, which was carried: — “That withi the object of securing remits affecting the interest® of the North, the whole of the chambers of commerce north of Auckland be requested to put in writing matters which, in their opinion, require attention and assistance, such proposals to be submitted to a meeting of all the chambers of commerce to be held in Whangarei on Tuesday, March 4, 1930, at 7.30 p.m., each chamber to have the right to send up to three delegates to attend such meeting. It will then be decided upon what date the combined chambers will submit their recommendations to the - Auckland Chamber of Commerce and the matter 'Of representation at the Auckland conference will be discussed.’’ ‘
It was pointed out that the ’combined voice of the North Auckland Chambers would carry more wejight then the efforts of any single chamber, and if necessary support could be sought from the'Auckland-Chamber.
