place. The children of the Horn’ Hota. School spent a happy time yesterday afternoon, when a fine ChristmasTree Party was held in the school' grounds. A truly happy picture \yas presented with the children thoroughly enjoying themselves and with the prospect of long holidays' ahead. Both parents and staff had warded hard for the successful culmination of the event, and they were well rewarded.

A large gathering of parents *was present, and the Christmas Tree was hung with gifts, each child 'of the infant department receiving orie and a bag of sweets, the bags being'made in ai novel and amusing design, in'the shape of paper clown-Hke figures' The children also gave a v short entcrtainpient, including songs and dan- ‘ ces and a play by-' some of the older pupils. ' ' <' The headmaster of the school, /Mr F. N. -R. Dowrianl, briefly thankedall for their support,' and Miss L. Mason, infant mistress, also expressed her thanks to the parents for their invalilable help in 5

the occasion.. . This . afternoon the Solomon Prize for the best all-round boy in the school was presented to Lee Murdoch, son of Mr A. J. Murdoch, M.P. for Mnrsden. Mr Solomon made the presentation, and Mr Murdoch was

also present. ; Pupils of the standard classes. gave an impromptu concert this afternoon, and the infant classes also gave an entertainment as a wind-up to the school year.
