TALLOW, EGGS, HEMP, ETC. HIGH COMMISSIONER’S CABLE. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated December 7, from the High Commissioner for Now Zealand, London; — Tallow. —There was no auction this week. The spot market is steady without material change in values; father more business is being done ,in forward shipments. , ; Eggs. —New laid and Danish fresh’ arc scarce; other grades are quietly: steady at better prices. Present quota-{ lions are; English, 26/ to 34/ per long| 100; Dutch, 22/ to 26/; Danish, 26/i to 28/; Belgian, 15/ to 22/; Polish, 12/9 to 13/3; South 1 African and Aus-| tralian, 16/6 to 18/; New Zealand, 17/j to 21/. |
Hemp.—Manila: After a slight advance the market eased under more free offers and limited demand, and closed dull with value of J grade for January-March, shipments £36, Sisal: The markgt is quiet. No. 1 afloat is quoted by sellers at £35; No. 2, £33 5/. 1 January-March shipments are not being freely offered; No. 1 good marks is valued at £35 15/ to £36; No. 2, £34 10/ to £35. New Zealand: The market is quiet. fihippers are not offering and buyers arc holding back. Nominal comparative closing values for Deeember-February shipment are, highpoints £33, fair £29 10/, common £2B. Tow, second grade, £2l; third grade, £lB. Oats. —Poor demand, English is difficult to sell. Fine white is offered at 22/0 to 23/, German, for December shipment,, is offered at 19/.
