The opening ■ wool sale of the season was held in Napier -yesterday when 9501 bales were submitted to a record bench of- buyers. PracticalIv all wore sold under the hammer. Pries were in advance of those ruling in Wellington last week, principally due to better quality and get up of the Hawke’s Bay wool. There was almost a complete lack of demand for fine wools. Competition, otherwise, was keen,- Australia, the Continent and Russia being the principal buyers of crossbreds. Franco, particularly, operated freely.
