It is now considered certain that the State Cabinet will retain the Child Endowment Scheme, but will draft a formula to provide for a basic wags for a man and his wife without children at about £4 weekly. Tho Endowment Fund will not be made a direct charge on industry as fit present, hut the fund may be built up by weekly contributions from employers, employees and a subsidy from the Government.
