(United Press Association—By F.lectric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received 9 a.m.) LONDON, November 12.
The chairman, Lord Melchett, moved at a meeting of the Council of the Empire Producers’ Organisation, that immediate steps be taken to promote trade agreements between Britain and the Dominions, with a view to devel-
opment of the Empire as an economic unit.
He pointed out the urgency of overindustrialised Britain balancing with ovcr-agriculturalised units. Empire resources in raw materials gave the Empire irresistible bargaining power with foreign countries. Important Australian and other business men desired to participate in tin proposed Imperial Business Conference concurrently with the next Imperial Conference to consider Empire devel-
opment. Sir Henry Harwell and others sup ported the resolution, which was carried.
An Ottawa message says that Canadian free trade with Britain within five years is the aim of a resolution placed an the order-papor of the House of Commons by Mr C, W. Fansher (Progressive member) for discussion when Parliament meets.
It is urged that British preference should be progressively increased until free trade is obtained.
