WORK OF RESTORATION.

According to information received, the work of repairing the earthquake damage on the Buller Gorge Read is progressing well. Nearly 100 men are employed on the Murchison end and the indications are that the road will bo opened for traffic next February. Temporary repairs are being carried out to the Matakitaki River bridge and a big gang is employed on tho large slide which dammed the Buller River near O’Sullivan’s Bridge, about eight miles from Muchison. Prom present indications the road to the bridge should be opened an about a week’s time.

Well over 200 men were counted on the railway construction work, and the recently-installed steam navvy is now digging itself into a largo cutting at Granitv.
