NUMEROUS CASUALTIES,

(Australian Press Association.) (Received 8.32 a.m.) VIENNA, August 19.

Several persons were killed and from 30 to 40 wounded in a fierce clash between Fascists and Socialists at Marein.

The Socialists obtained a permit to demonstrate. The Fascists, known as the ‘ ‘ Helmvvehr. ’ ’ broke their own promise to confine their counter demonstration .to a neighbouring village and poured into Marein in order to break up the 'Socialist meeting. They were stoned by the Socialists and retaliated by the use of rifles and, machine guns.
