HOSPITAL BOARD VACANCY
COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE,
The vacancy caused on the Whangarei Hospital Board by the resignation of Mr D. A. McLean one of the. Borough representatives was filled at last night’s meeting of the Whangaroi Borough Council. . Cr. A. T. Brainsby said .he believed that the council had to appoint some one and be would like to ask if the Mayor, Mr W, Jones, would net as the council’s representative. Mr Jones had done yeoman, service .when a member of the board before. He, personally, had particular memories of Mr Jones’ visitations and interest during his illness in hospital, and if Mr Jones could see his way to be the representative it would be very advantageous. He moved that Mr Jones be asked to act as representative. ’(>, J. E, Holmes seconded the proposal. Or. A. H, Curtis moved an amendment that Mr W, U. Timewoll be the council’s representative. It was not ■through, any personal feeling, he said, that' the amendment was moved, but ihe had promised to nominate the other gentleman. The amendment lacked a seconder, however, and lapsed. The motion was carried unanimously. The Mayor briefly returned thanks for his appointment.
