MIGRATION MISSION
MR THOMAS IN CANADA,
DUMPING REPUDIATED,
GENERAL OBSERVATIONS.
(Australian Press .Association .7 (Received 8.26 a.m.) OTTAWA, August 17. Mr .1. H. Thomas, British Minister for Unemployment, arrived at Ottawa on Saturday to discuss various matters witli the Canadian Government, particularly immigration, Mr Thomas declared: “We have no desire to clump our people anywhere.” He expressed confidence that Mr C. G. Dawes, United States Ambassado.-. and the Prime Minister, Mr Ramsay MacDonald, would reach an agreement on armaments.
Asked for observations on Lord Bcaverbrook’s campaign, for free trade within the Empire be said; “I* don’t think it was a campaign.” “Merely a stunt,” suggested the newspaper man.
“You have supplied my deficiencies of speech” the Minister replied. The Minister said he would discuss every aspect of trade relations as thev affected Britain and Canada.
