'l’he attendance of spectators i was medium, in marked contrast to in few years ago when these rivals ! would lie lending for premiership, j Ohaeawai set the ball in motion and a long spell of give and take play enI sued, the visitors eventually gaining J the upper hand which culminated in | I’ana pa having to resort to a force j down. A few' .minutes later, Edmonds, O’Brien and Jackson became associat ed ami the latter topped off the move-, mout by registering - a nice try. The kick at goal was fruitless. Kaikohe 9, Ohaeawai 3. The final quarter was outstanding for rigorous tactics on the part of both sides, but the defeuee of each division was not thoroughly pierced and the game ended without alteration to the scores. Mr L. J. Smith controlled; the game. NOTES ON THE GAME. Kaikohe were fortunate in winning owing to the visitors being unable to field a full team. The Ohaeawai team gave a. better display than the homo team, but the absence of two players was too big a handicap. For the winners, Panapa was not so sound as usual giving the visitors lots ot ground by the ball boating him on the bounce.- Hows and Wrathall wore particularly good, the, latter being an asset to the team, Williams and Penny, the five-eighths, with Amos at half had a hard task behind a pack that- could not got the ball, all doing solid work in the open. Of the forwards, O’Brien, Hurley, Jackson and R. Edmonds were outstanding, although the latter is inclined to try and beat the referee regarding offside, with the consequent penalty. ’Skinner, Edwards and Young worked hard. For the losers, White played a sterling game at full and with Ludibrook was responsible for the narrow margin of points in the final result. J. Herbert, on the wing, was uncertain at I times what to do. This cost his side a try. Lemon and Flay at liveeighths with Cheat. behind a dominant, pack wore responsible for some eharm- ! ing exhibitions of passing, and making the game open, from which Ludbrook scored their try. Of the forwards, H. Herbert, Mason and -Morris were a hard-working trio, their line work was very good'. Neuman .was] prominent in the open, his fast following up preventing the other side from getting away on several occasions. This also applies to Flay. OTHER RESULTS. \ Kaw'akawa beat Ngawha, at Kawakawa, by 11 points to 3. | Okaihau beat Waihon. at Waihou, by I II points to nil. j JUNIORS. j Kaikohe played a drawn game with.
