The speaker at the Rotary Club’s luncheon today was the Rev. M. Rawden Harris, who took as his subject “J.0.U.” A report will appear in tomorrow's issue of the “Northern Advocate.”

At the meeting of the Whangarei Rugby Referees’ Association last evening reports were received from two referees who ordered players off on .Saturday. These cases will come before the Rugby Union this evening. There was little discussion.

It was reported at the annual mooting of Wilsons (N.Z.) Portland, Cement Ltd., last week that at Portland the plant had been well maintained and recent additions included a hydraulic lime plant, another steam turbine, and another waste heat boiler. The building extension programme was nearing completion and little further work was contemplated. The problems which always confronted the industry night call at any time for .further extensions, new installations-and. alteration's, but if any such contingency Ciould arise the company was in the fortunate position of having the means for effecting any changes without calling for more capital. In connection with the hydraulic lime plant the chairman, Sir George Elliot, .said that- all manufacturing at Warkworth was now stopped and plant and buildings were now being sold or removed to Portland, whore the extraction of lime from No. 4.kiln now took the ulaco of manufacturing at Wiarkworth. Tests proved this lime superior, so far, to the old Warkworth product: Big preparations are being made at Henry Wilson's for a great re-building and Extension of premises sale, which is scheduled to ■ commence on Friday morning. The sale will be short and sharp, every effort being directed towards reducing stocks in order to make way for the builders. Full particulars will be advertised in tomorrow's issue.
