DEAVATERING ARRANGEMENTS.

The directors of the' Hikurangi Coal Company have decided to close down the mine for three months. At the end of that time the diversion drainage should have been completed and a new generator, ordered from England, should have arrived'.

Th’e mine has not sufficient power to complete the work of de-watering in a satisfactory manner, but with the new machinery, which should be installed about the end of August, all difficulties in this direction should cease.
