Mr P. H. Woods, Collector of Customs at 'Blenheim, is on a holiday visit to his brother, Mr A. Marsden Woods. Advice is cabled to the effect that Mr J. C. Hudson, formerly Vice-Consul for America, is to assist the. American Consulate in Sydney, where he arrived yesterday from Singapore. Mr J. W. McEwan of Petone, has been unanimously elected chairman of the Wellington Harbour Board. Mr McEwan has represented Hutt Valley on the board continuously .since 1908.
Whangarei members of the Auckland Training College Rugby team, as yet undefeated in the Auckland senior competition, left by today’s express in order to participate in the game against Marists tomorrow.' They are L. D. Abbott, W. 'Dobbs, A. Mackey and Tv. Mcßae.
The death is announced of Mr Sydney Andrews, of Danncvirke, who was well-known in business and sporting circles. Until recently the deceased gentleman, who was 55 years of age, had been proprietor of Andrew’s Hotel, but. on. account of illness was compelled to retire. His death, though sudden, was not unexpected, as he had been in bad health for a lengthy period.
