(Australian Press Association.) (Received 2.2 p.m.) SHANGHAI, May 10
Marshal "Fong Yu-lrsiang, the socalled 'Christian General, Moscow’s agent, is reported, to have dually thrown down the gauntlet to Cliiang-Kai-shek by the issuance of a circular telegram principally attacking Chiang’s methods of self-aggrandise-ment, simultaneously declaring that he is not quarrelling with 'the Nanking Government.
Feng and -Chiang are rapidly mobilising their respective Kuominchun and Knomintang troops, and an outbreak of hostilities is expected iu the Lyaug district, .the stronghold of the former powerful Wu Pei-fu and the most strategic position in central China. Feng’s declaration was unexpected in -official quarters in Nanking, whose apprehension is proved' by postponement of >the State burial of Sun Matson on June 1 being under discussion. Latest reports from Lyang arc that the Kuominchun troops are destroying bridges and railways in order to impede 'the Governnreht forces.
