The district has been subjected to; very boisterous weather lately. Fortunately the roads have dried up almost as quickly as they became wet. At present they are in quite good condition, and ought to remain so with a, little intelligent attention. "As regards the dairymen, there 'has been no ‘appreciable increase' m the growth of the pastures, and the cows are-falling off noticeably in their vield of .milk. ** I Air Clements and Mr Badmington ap-j pear to have had very efficient bushbnrns, and fortunately tins season no fires got out of hand. The recent by-election, while nori provoking scenes of great enthusiasm, yet aroused sufficient local interest to bring out of his lair every available elector. The result here was overwho 1 mingly Bell. Very much appreciated services, conducted, by the Bev. T. W. Edwards, tin? Anglican minister of Hikurangi, have for the hist few months been held monthly in the school. These, owing to the great size of his district, are of .necessity held on Friday afternoons. Only thus will they fit into the scheme of things. Mi's Litt, who has been spending a few -days at the (coast a.s the guest of her friend, Airs Watson, returned to her home last Wednesday. Mrs Hutchison, of the Kiripaka Bead, has been the guest of Airs Ferguson.
