YOUNG AUSTRALIAN’S DEATH
DUE, TO BLOOD POISONING.
COMPANION QUARANTINED. (Australian Press Association.) (Received 9.11a,m.) OTTAWA, April 20. A report from Niagara Falls states that an investigation into the death of William Straehan, of the Young Australians, is being carried out by Dr W. J. Bell, Deputy-Minister of Health, who went there from Toronto in response to urgings by the local health officers, to determine what caused his sudden death. Dr Bell cabled yesterday that ! death was due to a streptococcus germ, a form of blood poisoning. Straehan’g death compared somewhat .with the deaths of five persons recently stricken in Elfrid township, near London, Ontario. It is believed the latter were victims of the same rare germ, William Kreemmer, Straehan’s companion, has been placed in quarantine. The officials in charge of the group said that all were ii) good health, save Johh West, who was sent to hospital with throat trouble. The group, as planned, continue their tour tomorrow. Straehan’s body was immediately buried on the orders of the Health Department,
