MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS
NOMINATIONS ANNOUNCED. ONLY TEN FOR COUNCIL, Nominations for the Whangarei Borough Council closed at noon today. For nine seats on the council, ten nominations were received, including six sitting members and- the retiring Mayor. There are two aspirants for the Mayoral chair viz:—Messrs W. Jones and D. A. McLean. Those seeking election on the Council are Messrs L. J. Brake (retiring Mayor), A. .H. Curtis, E. G. W. Tibbits, L. T. Pickmere, A. T. Brainsby, James Jackson and A. M. Rust (present members), J. E, Holmes, James Donaldson and W. H, At. Yarrow. The election of three Borough nominees on the Whangarei Hospital Board promises to be interesting, five nominations having been received as follows:—Mrs Viva Donaldson, and Messrs D, A, McLean (sitting members), F. Higginson, W. Jones and R. H. Allan.
■An election will also be necessary to appoint two Borough representatives on. the Harbour Board. The aspirants arc:' Messrs J, E. Holmes (sitting), J. F. R. .Briggs .and P. E. Gardner. THE NOMINATORS.
