OBITUARY
MRS DANIEL McMILLAN. There was widespread regret throughout the district when it was learned that Mrs Daniel McMillan, of Kamo Road, had passed away at the hospital yesterday. The deceased was held in high esteem by a very largo circle of friends, and her death breaks another link in the fast shortening chain of pioneer settlers. The deceased lady, who was the second daughter of the late Mr Hugh McKenzie, was born at Kauri, where her father was the first school teacher in that district. She spent all her childhood' and girlhood there, and was loved by all who knew her. On marrying Mr McMillan, she and her husband went to Ngamratunua, • where they lived till some twelve years ago, when they took up residence in Kamo Road. The late Mrs McMillan was the soul of kindness, and she was ever ready to extend a helping hand to those who required it. She took a keen interest in the Prosbyterin Church, of which she was an active worker till illness overtook her. A husband, a daughter— Miss Gladys McMillan, of the staff of the ‘Whangarei Primary School—and a son—Mr Hugh McMillan, head teacher of the Mangapai School —are left to mourn their loss. To them sincere sympathy will be extended.
