MANGA ITT. COMES DOWN. S. HENDERSON HURT. (Special to “Northern Advocate.’’) i\UOKDAIND, This Day. The well-knbwn cross country jockey, iS. Henderson, was seriously injured and bis mount, Mangaiti, killed in a fall at the Paeroa races. The accident occurred at the brush double in front of the stand. The horse appeared to jump rather late.. It cleared the obstacle but doubled up on its front legs and struck the ground heavily -with its head. Its neck was probably broken and the animal expired immediately. Henderson failed to get clear of the stirrups in the fall and was dragged by the. horse. He received concussion and body injuries and was taken to the Thames Hospital. His condition last evening was fairly serious. Mangaiti was not insured and his owner recently refused an offer of £SOO.
