ENGINEER’S REPORTS. ■ Dredging.—Suction, dredging was carried on steadily in the OuerahiKioreroa section of the channel, two’ sections each, of 180 feet in length having been completed during the four weeks up to the 11th instant. Since commencing dredging on 'the 13th ultimo,, a length of 540 feet of the channel has been completed, the actual dredging hours being . 124 and the quantity of spoil pumped ashore 15,430 cubic yards.
■Sandstone Bar. —‘Work on the removal of this bar has proceeded without interruption during the past month, the quantity dredged being about 1,200 cubic yards. ■General.-—A barge has been towed from Kiripaka to the board’s slipway, which vessel is under offer to the board for dredging purposes. The Haercmai’s dinghy has been repaired and painted. The new launch jetty for the use of the Whangarei Cruising Club has been completed, the cost being £59 5s 4d and the estimate £55. A quantity of spare rails at the slipway were straightened and made ready for use. One barge and’ four other vessels were hauled on to the slip. We have been rather handicapped this month by reason of the shipwright being laid up for three weeks through an injury, and the foreman being on leave, without pay, for some days. The report was adopted without discussion.
