Extending over a frontage of 35 miles a chain of bushflres in the Adelaide hills destroyed 1000 acres of timber and grazing property and endangered townships and homesteads. The damage runs into many thousands. The stock losses are comparatively small, but the fate of 500 sheep at Forostville is not known. One fire fighter collapsed. He is in a serious condition.
