RECORD SHARK

CAUGHT AT WHANGAEOA. WHANGAROA, Tuesday, The world’s record thresher shark was caught at Whangaroa today by Mr Stanley Ellis, of Hamilton, It weighed 9151b5. Air Ellis was fishing from the launch Eoelomiii when the fish was hooked close in shore. After a hard fight, the thresher, having towed! the launch eight miles to sea, was eventually brought alongside and harpooned. The struggle lasted four and .a quarter hours. The previous world’s record was hold by Mr H. White-Wickham, of London, who, when fishing from Whangaroa, landed .a thresher weighing 8321 b. Mr Ellis also landed a swordfish weighing 2801 b yesterday, and he has caught nine or ten big fish in the last few days.
