In the House.of Commons, Mr Winston Churchill said that the Government sympathised with endeavours to produce an opera house, tout was not prepared to give financial assistance. Mr J. Bromley (Labour): “Has not sufficient public money been spent on the opera, bouffe of the present Government s’ ’
Mr Churchill: “I have no acquaintance with any opera bouffe, though I have' occasionally been brought into contact with low comedians.”
