SUSPECT FOUND HANGED
TRAGEDY AT MOUNT EDEN GAOL.

AUCKLAND, This Day.
A labourer, Manuel Wilson, aged 29, arrested on New Year’s Eve on a charge of (breaking, entering and theft at the Farmers’ Trading Company, Tu'akau, committed suicide in a cell •this morning at Mount Eden Gaol. He had been in gaol on remand since January 1. Since then he was frequently remanded.
He was given breakfast at 6.30 a.m. but when .the cell was visited at 8.80 it was found he had hanged himself with a towel.
On the nighit when it was alleged that deceased broke into the store at Tuakau, the store caught fire, following an explosion early on the morning of December 30. The damage was estimated at from £IO,OOO to £12,000.
