SCHOOL PICNIC. ' The annual school picnic was held in Mr Waked in's paddock on Wednesday, 12th* last. Despite the- dull, showery morning, there was a large attendance, and fortunately before 11 o'clock the sky cleared and once more Riponui was blessed with a fine day for the groat annual event. All the pupils of the school were presented with books with the exception of the junior pupils, who received pencil eases. Kathleen May and Leslie Rowley, as best girl and best boy in the school, received additional books. All the children under school ago wove the pleased recipients of toys, even the babies being provided with rattles.
Generous luncheon, and afternoon tea wore, served under the pine trees, and, of course, there were the usual lollie-scrambles and raspberry drinks, without •which a children's picnic is incomplete. The rest of the day ya,s taken up with racing and jumping etc; The following are the results of the main sports, events. —
