INTERESTING RETURN. Sonic incresting official figures dealing’ ■with the cattle of Canada leave recently ticca, supplied. These figures show that in 1027 the total .cattle of all sorts in Canada was 9,172,2118; the four main provinces being Ontario' 2,714,(954, Quebec 1,942,084, Saskatchewan 1,304,.200, and Alberta 1,535,000. The following list shows the total number of pure-bred dairy cattle registered by various 'brecylu vluringi the six years, 192.2 to 1927: — (Holstein Friesians 100,173; Ayrshires 34,809; Jerseys 21,067; FrenchCanadian .(almost wholly confined to Quebec) 3,553; Guernsey 3,418; Brown Swiss 386; the total number of Shorthorns registered, including both beef and milking .Shorthorns, was 78,708. The figures of the various breeds made an interesting study in view of the .fact that Canadian cheese nearly always commands a .premium in price over New Zealand cheese on the London market.
