DUNEDIN, This Day,
William White, aged 22, was drowned at Pukotcraki yesterday afternoon. He and two younger brothers were bathing when they found themselves in deep water, owing to a depression in the sandy bottom. They at once struck out for the shore. The two younger men reached the beach and on looking round for their brother they could see nothing of him. Search was immediately instituted without result.
Deceased’s father is a fanner at Puketoraki.

DUNEDIN, This Day
There was nearly a tragedy at -St. Clair yesterday morning. A bather got into serious difficulties beyond the breakers and it was only after a long
struggle that Messrs Mclndoo and Swan, members of the Life Saving Club, brought him to shore in a semiconscious condition.
