CYCLONIC VISITATION
MANY HOUSES UNROOFED
' (Australian Press Association.) (Received 11.50 a.m.) (SYDNEY, This Day. A message from Maitland states that a severe cyclonic storm caused serious damage. Many houses were unroofed by the force of the wind. One roof was lifted into the air and landed on the top of a two-storeyed building. The hospital was unroofed and there was soon a foot of water in the rooms. Many business places were severely damaged. All traffic was brought to a standstill and public utilities wore interrupted. TORRENTIAL RAIN. (Australian Press Association.) (Received 9 a.m.) f SYDNEY, This Day. There was a heavy thunderstorm last night over the city for several hours. The lightning was particularly vivid. Several reports ar.e current that buildings were struck, but so far they are not authenticated. The rain was torrential at times, but is welcomed on all sides, as the long dry spell had patched the countryside.
